Running in Cambridge.

Cambridge is a university city and globally significant tech/biotech hub ("Silicon Fen") on the River Cam, with a genuinely large and serious running scene built around the university colleges, the University track at Wilberforce Road, and Cambridge & Coleridge AC. The city centre is flat, compact and studded with real, well-used green running spaces — Jesus Green, Midsummer Common, Coe Fen and the riverside path out to Grantchester — alongside two established parkruns.

Cambridge has its own running club — Cambridge & Coleridge Athletic Club (C&C) and Cambridge University Hare & Hounds (CUH&H) and Cantabrigensis Hash House Harriers (Cambridge Hash / CH3) and Let's Run Girls — Cambridge City group and Run For Your Life Cambridge and Cambridge Running Group and Up & Running Cambridge — Social Run Group and South Cambridge Striders — meeting locally rather than in a neighbouring town.

Cambridge has its own parkrun, Coldham's Common parkrun, every Saturday at 9am — free, timed, and open to anyone. A junior parkrun runs at the same Coldham's Common venue on Sundays. Brook Leys parkrun, in Eddington (the University's North West Cambridge development), is also branded and addressed as Cambridge, though the site sits on the boundary with South Cambridgeshire.

Where people actually run around Cambridge: The Backs, Jesus Green & Midsummer Common loop, Sheep's Green, Coe Fen & Lammas Land, Grantchester Meadows (the riverside path to Grantchester), River Cam towpath (Jesus Green to the Backs), Coldham's Common, Cherry Hinton Hall & Cherry Hinton (chalk pit) Nature Reserve, Wandlebury Country Park & the Gog Magog Hills, Milton Country Park.

The Backs

The green, riverside stretch of the Cam behind King's, Trinity, St John's, Clare, Jesus, Peterhouse, Darwin and Downing colleges. Wandlebury Country Park & the Gog Magog Hills

A 150-acre country park on top of the Gog Magog Hills, about 3 miles south of Cambridge, with an Iron Age hillfort and roughly 8km of paths including a well-known 3/4-mile loop around the hillfort. Milton Country Park
